“Third Thumb” Augmentation Changes the Way we Think of Prosthetics
There is no car in the automotive industry that is as hot as Tesla is today. Zooming past every other major automobile company in both sales and safety ratings, it would appear that the only competition it really has is itself. So what might be next for the company? Well according to digital artist Antonio Serrano the company should now be directing its efforts towards the development of an electrical motorcycle – dubbed the Tesla e-Bike, no less!
While a concept design today, electric motorcycles aren’t anything new. With Tesla behind the wheel, however, they could achieve the fandom they so desperately desire.

To ensure both light weight and durability, the Tesla e-Bike would be made out of carbon fiber, aluminum, and high-strength plastic. To provide efficient traction and cornering, its front suspension would feature hub-center steering. Subsequently, the e-Bike would be equipped with an OLED dashboard display, providing the driver with essential information about the bike at a simple glance.
Whether or not Tesla takes Antonio’s concept design seriously is still up for debate, but for someone who wasn’t currently looking in the market for a motorcycle, the e-Bike might be the bike I never thought I wanted.
FUTURE IMPLICATIONS
The future of transportation is changing before our very eyes. Leading the way of this automotive revolution is none other than Tesla Motors. Before the company made its impressive debut only a few short years ago, every major automobile manufacturer was still eyeing a future dominated by both fossil fuels and mediocre design concepts. Not today, and most certainly not in the future. No, automotive designers today have a newly-found freedom of artistic expression for what vehicles of the world of tomorrow will look like. As technologies continue to advance, especially those like 3D printing, how vehicles of the future are designed and perform will largely be determined at the behest of each individual.
