Say hello to Aido – the next generation home robot! Unlike previous home robots like Jibo or Pepper, Aido is the closest real-world incarnation of Rosie from The Jetsons yet. While it won’t clean the dishes for you, a whole plethora of options will be available at each’s own behest.
“Aido is the next generation social family robot. Smart, interactive, and uniquely mobile – Aido can play with your kids, help you with household chores, handle your schedule, and keep your home safe.”
– Ingen Dynamics Inc.
Though before Aido reaches your home, its developers are seeking the help of crowdfunders via Indiegogo. Its funding goal was $75,000, though it’s already acquired 545% of that funding and is still rising. So if you’re going to fund the campaign, fund it for the sake of making Aido all the more efficient.
Aido is a huge milestone accomplishment for the field of robotics. Every year it feels like home robots become all the more efficient and all the more family oriented. Eventually they’ll be in every home, on nearly every sidewalk, in every building we can think of. They’ll be workers, engineers, and artists. More importantly, they’ll be our friends, like one of the family, and for many others, they’ll even be our lovers. Once these robots begin to think for themselves and begin to acquire emotions, there’ll be no limitation as to what they become, and equally no limitation as to how we will interact with them.
