But in the next few decades, when our biological substrate is either mechanized into Cyborg bodies or is uploaded into a digital Avatar, how sex will be transformed is a question that I and fellow writer Greg Stevens discuss in the videos provided below:
“If we upload our minds to computers, what will it mean for gender and sexual orientation? Topics in this video: transhumanism, mind uploading, reproduction, cloning, sexual orientation, gender identity, paraphilia, sexual plasticity, post-gender, nanobots, six-armed robots, and having an extra penis.”
FUTURE IMPLICATIONS
The [easyazon_link identifier=”0061359807″ locale=”US” nw=”y” tag=”seriou03-20″]future of sex[/easyazon_link] has been a topic growing in popularity recently, especially among the Transhumanist community. There are risks to be discussed as well, such as the hacking of haptic suits or implants that induce orgasms. But these aren’t risks in which should deter us from embracing a technological transformation of sex. Rather these risks should be discussed in a meaningful way and begin formulating action plans to help mitigate these risks before they ever occur.
But what do you think? How will we have sex as Cyborgs or as digital Avatars? What will it mean to conceive a child in non-biological ways? Will sexual orientations and/or gender identities remain in this Transhuman future?
