Beer + Artificial Intelligence = Future

By B.J. Murphy

Over the last week, beer lovers across the world rejoiced to the news that the first ever delivery made by an autonomous truck was: 50,000 cans of Budweiser. And while many (myself included) found it strange that such a product would receive the honor in being delivered by a self-driving 18-wheeler, others couldn’t help but note just how “American” the breakthrough was.

Well, it would appear that this alcoholic beverage isn’t quite done soaking in the limelight. If you thought autonomous trucks delivering Budweiser was cool, how about a newly crafted beer known as IntelligentX that was brewed by an Artificial Intelligence (A.I.)!?

“We’ve created a premium beer that uses complex machine learning algorithms to improve itself from your feedback… Our IntelligentX beer comes in exclusive ‘pirate black’ bottles and is available in extremely limited editions for those that know how to find it.”

– IntelligentX Brewing Company

Developed by IntelligentX Brewing Company, this newly crafted beer was largely the result of a specially designed A.I. system known as Automatic Brewing Intelligence (ABI). To achieve this, the developers had to first catalog all of the ingredients, methods of brewing, etc. and then code it into data structure of which ABI can understand.

From there, once the IntelligentX is brewed and sent out into the world, users will be able to use a chatbot on Facebook Messenger to provide feedback to ABI. As a result, this will allow it to continue evolving by using its Machine Learning algorithms.

FUTURE IMPLICATIONS

Due to the advancements in A.I., it would certainly seem that nothing will be left “sacred” – not even in the brewing of beer. But it makes sense, considering how much information an A.I. is able to extrapolate and generate results that are far more efficient than any human can possibly muster. When it comes to our favorite beverages, this is especially advantageous, given the fact that an A.I. will be able to synthesize the exact amount of ingredients, under a perfect method of performance, all the while ensuring nothing finds its way into the brew that would effectively diminish its quality. So whether we like it or not, the world’s first A.I. brewed beer is here to stay and there’s nothing we can (or should) do about it.
