“What can be done to raise public support for the pursuit of indefinite life extension through medicine and biotechnology to the same level as currently exists for disease-specific research efforts aimed at cancers, heart disease, ALS, and similar large-scale nemeses?”
The fight against aging is going to be a very difficult fight, especially if it’s to receive as much political pushback as we’ve witnessed throughout history, such as the war on cancer. Even then, we shouldn’t let that deter us from taking on the task and eventually succeeding. Someday in the future, we’ll look back on the movement for indefinite life extension and realize just how important it was in shaping the collective spirit at a global scale. Without this movement – without International Longevity Day – the future could very well maintain the status quo of age-related disease and suffering. I believe I speak for everyone here when I say, that just won’t do!
