But is it really because of all the bad things which happened that year? Are endings really only sought after as a means of alleviating our pain? According to the GPA, our search for endings might not have anything to do with any cynical notion, but rather in preparation for something better – of new beginnings.
As a once great essayist and poet once said:
“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.”– T. S. Eliot
As we march into the future, what new beginnings do you seek? It could be something as abstract as world peace. Or it could be something more specific, like the cure for cancer, or cardiovascular disease, or simply diseases in general. Whatever it might be, let our search for endings forever be predicated on the journey of new beginnings. The future can be a positive one, so long it is guided by positive minds.
