The Future This Week: IBM, Sexbots, and Magic Leap

In The Future This Week, Serious Wonder enters Mixed Reality in search of this week’s headlines of the future, from talking sexbots coming out next year to the U.S. military planning a real-world Iron Man reveal in 2018. This week we’re given a glimpse of the future where IBM’s Watson enters the service of a billion people in less than two years and the semi-secretive company Magic Leap begins revealing itself, including it’s still-semi-secretive Mixed Reality headset.

Whether we’re immersing the virtual world into our own physical space or we’re having sex with extremely realistic humanoid robots, the future is most definitely nigh and we’re all in for a roller coaster ride. The dreams of science fiction are finally becoming a science reality and it’s changing the very shape of our currently known reality onto its head. It’s a future that we might not be completely ready for, but it’s one that’s coming and at an accelerating pace. Do we dare to dream or do we fall behind? Welcome to the future!

Real Iron Man

Formerly known as Tactical Light Operator Suit (TALOS), the real-world Iron Man project just got a new reveal as the US Special Operations Command announced that an operational prototype will be fully produced by the year 2018. SOURCE

Sexbots 2017

Speaking with The Daily Mail, robotics expert David Levy made a bold prediction that by next year humanoid sex robots will become commercially available, of which these sexbots will have the ability to talk, respond to touch, and have warm genitals. SOURCE
