The Future This Week: Let's Make America Smart Again

By B.J. Murphy

In The Future This Week, Serious Wonder moves in hypersonic speed in search of this week’s headlines of the future, from implants helping paralyzed monkeys walk again to the development of the hyperloop transportation system in the UAE. This week we’re given a glimpse of the future where scientists speak out against the divisive ignorance in developed regions of the world and hypersonic planes able to go from London to New York in only 35 minutes.

Whether we’re moving at extremely fast speeds on the ground or in the air, the future is most assuredly fast approaching us. The acceleration of scientific and technological developments is one beyond fathomable comprehension. We’re moving at a speed which many are unable to keep up with, let alone be aware of their existence.Whether we see it or not, the world of tomorrow is almost here and we best prepare for it or be thrown into the dustbin of history. Welcome to the future!

Implants in Monkeys

Findings from a recent study published in Nature showed that, after electrodes had been implanted in the brain and spine of paralyzed monkeys, those very same monkeys soon began to walk after the implants helped restore function in their legs almost instantaneously. SOURCE
