The Future This Week: Tesla, C.R.I.S.P.R., and Alien Signals

By B.J. Murphy

In The Future This Week, Serious Wonder scours the stars in search of this week’s headlines of the future, from level 5 autonomy in Tesla vehicles to the development of graphene-based silk. This week we’re given a glimpse of the future where alien contact could become commonplace and where sci-fi could provide us a horrifying vision of futuristic terrorism – DNA hacking.

Whether exploring the cosmos or genetically modifying the human genome, we all have a choice needing to be made: do we want to create a utopian future or do we want to create dystopia? Our actions today will help determine which of the two we actually create. So we must be careful in our decisions. At the same time, we can’t allow our fears to dictate terrible decisions to begin with. Are you ready for the world of tomorrow? Welcome to the future!
