MELD: Sci-Fi Series Explores Nootropics and Nanobots

By B.J. Murphy

MELD Synopsis

Nisa Gunduz stars in Meld as Karine Ahmed, a 25 yr old woman who tries a new party drug called Meld. The next morning she discovers she can eavesdrop on other people’s texts, emails, searches and photos – their entire digital lives are suddenly accessible to her, as easy as thinking. It’s fun – until she discovers that a dangerous group is using these abilities to control politicians and other powerful elites. Karine soon gets drawn into uncovering the truth behind Meld, where it came from, and why it exists.

Many fans of sci-fi (and even non-sci-fi fans alike) have come across the film Limitless. In this film, Eddie Morra (starring Bradley Cooper) discovers a new smart drug that boosts his mental cognition to the point of becoming extremely intelligent. In real life, we also have smart drugs (known as nootropics). Only they won’t turn you into genius stock traders overnight like they did in the film.

Which then raises the question: will there ever be a nootropic that’ll actually achieve this someday? And if so, how? While the film Limitless never really got into the science behind its mysterious drug NZT-48, a new potential sci-fi series might just have the answer we’re all searching for.

MELD is sci-fi series in the making where a young woman named Karine Ahmed is exposed to a new drug. Only, soon after taking it, she discovers that, with the help of nanobots inside of the drug, she’s now capable of hacking nearby devices. Problem is, she isn’t the only one. With her discovery comes a thrilling tale of survival and evolution!
