The following article below is an opinion piece in response to Francesco Neo Amati‘s article, “Beyond Money: A Future of Passion & Progress.” Serious Wonder neither agrees nor disagrees with the author’s remarks. We only wish to provide both sides of an increasingly important topic – the future of money in the coming age of abundance – in order to provoke a greater conversation on the matter.
Inspired by my colleague and good friend, Francesco Neo Amati, I have decided to write my own interpretation on the future that money holds in society.
I very much agree that money is merely a conscious agreement on how to measure value, but I also believe that will not change. Let me explain: by the year 2025 we shall begin to see an uprising of the political theory known as ”intelligent capitalism.” A system that acts as a constant feed for all who indulge in purchase and invention. Digital currency will experience dramatic ups and downs in this furiously competitive environment as normal people get into the market of supply and demand. We will begin to see the debate between what will be called IAC (Interest as Currency) and the Universal Credit, powered by mega-corporations and like-minded individuals.
It will be interesting to see how a governing body is to be held in such a scenario. Money is fixed in our brains. Money to the majority makes the world go round and the only thing I see changing is how it is to be distributed. No longer will jobs be bare boned and hard to find. Jobs will be complicated. Others minimalist. In an economy where there are global connections and constant innovation from all sides, it will be hard to keep up with the system itself. Pawns in a complex game we shall become.
For those who find that future to be horrifying and open to many flaws, you’re anything but wrong, but I truly see the world heading in that direction. Here are some things, however, that won’t exist in this system:
- Disease; and
- A pure definition of what money will mean.
Information will be ever present, disease conquered by technological advancements in this man and machine collaborative economic model, fraud and false facts withheld.
No longer will poor people suffer for this system that holds a mandatory amount of money for each person in order to survive under law. Physical and mental health will be a main priority. The rest they earn can be placed in the grid of what will be the most intense economic interface we can fathom. It will be broken into sections: the people who wish to live their lives in peace and simply earn money for wants, such as fashion, software, or food will be available and globally accessible to them. Their interests will become their job and they will be paid for it, for every want will be a loop of interest to create money for someone else.
Money will become a brand. Peoples’ interests will be the main priority and every opinion will have center stage. It is important, however, that in this chaotic future we can separate fact from fiction, and that within this system, we cannot forget where our morals and true purpose lie. Black markets are a huge risk without proper software filters and it’s only right to take notes of the present goals and stature of the dark net now if we are to prevent the overhaul of corruption in the future – especially as AI becomes a primary tool used in this movement.
I believe with a sharp mind and an engaging vision it would be the perfect fuel for this coming age of abundance and interest. No longer should people have to hold a job or commitment to something they do not wish to be a part of. Everyone will have a place in this bizarre utopia. If it is this road or any other we are going down into the future, we have to remember that we need guidelines and we need each other most of all to make things prosper and work. Because at the end of the day, that’s all we have.
Interest becomes currency. Interest of the one powers the debate and application of many. The interest of many powers the utopia we desire. If interest is money, you’re more interested in the way the world works and what’s being made to appeal and apply to the world, rather than how many green pieces of paper you have in a leather wallet.
