Robot Dogs That Much Closer With the Ghost Minitaur

Have you ever dreamed of having your own personal robot dog? I know I have. I mean, what’s not to love: it’s programmed to be just as faithful and playful as a real dog, but won’t bark at all hours of the night nor relieve itself onto your clean floors.

While you might have to wait just a little bit longer for a true robotic dog, there might be another ‘bot that could serve as the next best thing. Say hello to Ghost Minitaur – a small robot by Ghost Robotics that can climb fences and open your door.

This 0.4 meter long, 0.28 meter wide robot can be controlled using a joystick or can operate autonomously using its onboard sensor integration. Its 2DOF legs allow for convenient versatility, from running, to leaping, and climbing. Its running speed is 2.0 m/s and has a vertical jump displacement of 0.48 m. The quadrupedal robot comes fully assembled and can be programmed to your liking.

FUTURE IMPLICATIONS

There’s no doubt about it that robots are becoming a lot more advanced. From versatility to intelligence, robots of the near future will soon resemble those we’ve all dreamed of having whenever we watched one of our favorite sci-fi films or read one of our favorite sci-fi novels. Whether it’s a robot dog or a full fledged humanoid providing mass daily convenience, it’s pretty clear that we won’t have to wait too much longer for our future Rosie or ‘Lectronimo from The Jetsons.
