According to the Asian Forum of Corrections’, this is the world’s first robot prison guard. They believe this is the future of prison security. Lee Baik-Chul the forum chairman says the robot is a game changer.
According to Reuters: Lee Baik-Chul says “The purpose to develop this kind of robot is to secure prisoner’s life and safety, and to decrease the workload of correctional officers in a poor working environment. By using the 3D depth camera, it will detect every detail of actions happening inside through a window. So, when there is an unusual behaviour, it’s going to analyse it and report the problem to the control system. Therefore, correctional officers will run and arrive at the scene in time.”

The use of robots in prisons may cause a reduction in corrupt guard-on-inmate abuse and rapes. It may also keep professional well trained guards from being harmed by violent offenders. This is one example of how removing the human element may prove beneficial to society. In the near future, we are going to see robots in every environment we inhabit. From schools to brothels, robots are about to become man’s new best friend. Are you ready?
