Robots: The New Professionals

by Chris Hall

The availability of jobs is of global concern. As we attempt to climb out of a recession, we’re seeing a slow incline of vacancies available, but nowhere near the rate we expected. Why? Robots.

Jobs which are labeled as “highly paid” are the ones which are most vulnerable. Robots are ever-increasing in efficiency and speed, leaving only the more basic jobs open for future human employment.

Robots are now able to gain more knowledge in a matter of seconds, more than we could through many years of studies. As a result, the grades we earn from education, for which so many of us rack up huge sums of debt, are quickly becoming obsolete. More people are finding it harder to get the jobs they want, as there’s more competition for the decreasing amount of jobs in their specialized fields.
Using nationally run medical sites and databases, we can now simply and more efficiently diagnose minor illnesses, reducing the need for people to attend local doctors.

Radiologists were once considered specialists, but in most places they are no longer needed. Pattern recognition software is more effective in diagnosing patients. Because this software can out-perform trained radiologists, they’ve become one of the latest victims of technological advancements.

FUTURE IMPLICATIONS

Technological progression is becoming the bane of many career choices, making the most desirable positions utterly inadequate.

For those of us in need of service, it’s not all doom and gloom, as robots become more precise in delivering what we need. It’s amazing to think however, that the professors are in fact out-doing their own profession. The creators of these robots, will eventually become the obsolete.
