In 2003, the Concorde was retired, and our dreams of commercial, super-sonic flight were put on hold. But our dreams may be rehabilitated and realized soon. Spike Aerospace, a Boston-based aerospace company is designing the S-512, a jet that could make super-sonic flight across the globe possible again.
Designed to fly at speeds of almost Mach 2, that’s almost 1500 miles per hour, the S-512 uses clever body design and engine technology to improve speed and aerodynamic movement. It may be that elite businessmen are the first to fly in the S-512, but hopefully a super-sonic flight or two will trickle down to us at some point.
What other kinds of super-something transportation do you want to see? Do you have any sketches or ideas you’re interested in sharing? Include them in the comments.
