Continuing this line of music listening, a new set of earphones are emerging which strongly emphasizes on both the aesthetic and hardware. Known as the New Normal, these wireless earphones not only wrap around your head with ease, but subsequently shift into a USB drive for charging. They’re currently available for pre-order, ranging between $149-199.
“We’ve taken everything we’ve learned over years, thousands of ear photos, and quite possibly the largest Q-tip collection ever to launch wireless Normals. But, since it’s us, it’s way better than just regular ol’ wireless earphones that you can pluck off a shelf… The New Normal bridges industry leading fit-technology with premium materials, wireless connectivity and award-winning sound.”

Both attain a microphone for wireless calls, an 8 hour battery life, and bluetooth connectivity. What makes these earphones stand out are their ability to transform into a USB drive for on-the-go charging. With virtually universal compatibility, the integrated USB is able to be plugged directly into a computer, an external battery, or a USB wall wart.

Our designated mediums for listening to music have drastically changed over the years, evolving alongside every other piece of technology that is constantly in our possession. Even now, it would seem the headphones and earphones of today are soon to be replaced by bone conduction devices. Eventually we’ll be listening to music and taking calls using bio-integrated implants. Why worry about menial things like whether or not you brought your earphones with you, when instead your very ears become the necessary technology themselves.
Don’t believe me? Just ask biohacker Rich Lee. It would appear that he’s one step ahead of us already!
