We are headed towards a world where no child will be born handicapped; physically or intellectually, in any way. No child will be born predisposed or susceptible to any condition or ailment due to genetic reasons. Every foetus will be treated to ensure that it will be born strong and healthy. The chances of death from birth, will thus diminish. And that is not all that we are headed towards.
We are headed towards a world, where age reversal will very much be a part of human life. As humans enter adulthood, they will begin therapy processes to prevent, and even reverse, ageing, to preserve their youth. This in addition to new forms of genetic treatments to cure illnesses, that cannot be cured today. This will further diminish the chances of death, and it is not even the most exciting part.
Imagine if you are immune to influenza or fever? Imagine if you are unable to fall ill due to infections caused by airborne particles or micro-organisms or bacteria? What would that be like? We are headed towards that world, where people will have much stronger immune systems, due to gene engineering, treatment or therapy. Besides, high immunity, people will be able to recover and heal faster from ailments and injuries. This sounds like an idea inspired from the Wolverine character of the X-Men film and comic series, but in reality, if we can manipulate our cells, genes and even DNA, to accomplish the immunity and healing ability far beyond our present reality is within reach.

Besides the manipulation of our cells, genes and structures, we will be consuming foods devoid of the toxicity and contamination that is widespread in most of the consumables we buy from the supermarket or the grocery store. At some point, it will be collectively made requisite by the human society around the world, that all food is pure and organic, without genetic modification, pesticide use and so on. We will be consuming pure nutrition, that will further help to preserve our health and vitality.
New water recycling, water distribution and new agricultural methods will ensure no shortage of food or water to mankind either. Therefore, water and food will not cause human death either.

And health is not the end of the story, but rather, just the beginning. Imagine falling from 10,000 feet, and not feeling a thing, let alone suffering any injury, even a scratch to any part of the body? With brain-controlled robo-suits, like that from Ironman we’d likely end up living very protected lives, where a plane crash would not able to claim a human victim. A collapsing building would not be able to take your life. Believe it or not, significant progress is being made towards both protective suits similar to that of the comic hero and robo-suits. It is matter of time before the two converge to help us accomplish amazing physical feats without any personal physical detriment. You’d be able to lift boulders with a single hand and walk through fire.
All dangerous jobs or jobs that can cause harm to health of a human in any way will be automated, done by robots or done by surrogate drones controlled by humans from a safe distance. Job hazards will become a subject of history. With automated driver-less vehicles on the roads with smart traffic systems, the risks of automotive or road mishap too will decrease. Accidents will become less likely to cause human death.
Now, in a world where causes of death begin to disappear, where life is prolonged, each human being could be around for much longer. Living healthier, with preserved youth, for far longer than most people do in the present day of 2014, humans will be capable of doing and accomplishing much more within their lifetimes. What will life be like for future generations of humans, when life is harder to lose? What will our world be like, when dying becomes harder? What will the needs of those future generations and the world be? How will those needs be met? Answers to these questions will define the future of economies, markets, industries and commerce.

While we may see an increased opportunity of meaning lives, departure from life, may become increasingly painful. A price to pay perhaps.
